Hilda Jackson Obituary

Hilda "Ann" Jackson, beloved matriarch affectionately known as Granny or Granny Jackson, passed away on April 11, 2024, in White Settlement, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on June 7, 1936, in the picturesque town of Dyersburg, Tennessee, she entered this world as the cherished daughter of Rollie Boyd Rice and Iuta Dempsey Rice. From her earliest days, Hilda radiated a warmth and kindness that would define her life's journey.

Granny Jackson was a treasure trove of laughter and joy, with a laugh that could light up even the darkest of days. Her mischievous spirit added an extra sparkle to every gathering, and her quick wit kept everyone on their toes. Renowned for her culinary prowess, Granny's kitchen was a haven of delectable delights, where the aroma of freshly baked pies and the sizzle of comfort foods welcomed all who entered.

A true aficionado of games of chance, Granny was a fixture at the local bingo hall, where her lucky charms and winning smile earned her a reputation as a true bingo aficionado. Her adventures at the WinStar Casino were the stuff of legend, with tales of jackpot victories and thrilling near-misses that kept her family and friends captivated.

But Granny's love for adventure extended beyond the walls of the bingo hall and casino. She was an intrepid explorer of the great outdoors, leading her GD camping crew on unforgettable expeditions to local state parks. Whether it was roasting marshmallows by the campfire or embarking on nature hikes, Granny's zest for life infused every moment with magic and wonder.

Granny Jackson's love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her family. She was their staunchest supporter, attending every sporting event with unwavering enthusiasm and cheering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on with boundless pride. No matter the outcome, Granny was there with open arms and a heart full of love, reminding her loved ones that they were cherished beyond measure.

An avid sports fan, Granny's allegiance to the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Cowboys was unwavering. Rain or shine, win or lose, she stood by her teams with unwavering loyalty, her living room adorned with team memorabilia serving as a testament to her dedication.

Granny's home was a sanctuary for her grandchildren, a place where they could play, explore, and create cherished memories without fear of judgment. She firmly believed that messes could always be cleaned up later, but moments of joy and laughter were to be savored and cherished forever.

In addition to her loving children, Keith Jackson, Sonya Culpepper and her husband Gwyn, and Connie Wheat and her husband Conway, Granny leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: April Nevole, Sheryse Meadors, Hunter Meadors and his wife Sophie, Jon Wheat and his wife Brittney, and Kamella Lilly, as well as her adoring great-grandchildren: Luther, Renee, Jacen, Ashtyn, Kaleb, Oliver, Kaiden, Hadley, Hudson, Hannah, Greyson, and Emmitte. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha Stanley, and Eddie Rice.

Granny Jackson was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Hunter Jackson, her parents Rollie and Iuta Rice; her dear brother, Thomas Rice, and her daughter in law, Reta Jackson. Though she may have left this earthly realm, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.

As we bid farewell to Granny Jackson, let us take comfort in the knowledge that she has embarked on her greatest adventure yet, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and watching over us all with her trademark smile and infectious laughter. May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared with the world.
