Thomas (Tom) Rust passed away peacefully on June 6, 2019 with his sons and niece by his side. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 3-5 pm at South Hills Baptist Church, 7350 Granbury Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76123. Tom was born in Winters, TX and grew up in Fort Worth. He was active playing football, playing bass in the Pascal High School Orchestra, and learning to be a leader with Boy Scout Troop 97. In scouting, Tom earned his Eagle Scout rank, and was awarded the Medal of Merit for rescuing an Assistant Scoutmaster while on a canoe trip. On his way to earning Eagle Scout, Tom helped lead young men, a passion that he passed to his son’s and nephew.

Tom was a loving, patient and humble man. He never wanted to be in the spotlight and preferred to work behind the scenes. He never met a person that was not his friend. If you met him, you automatically had a friend for life.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Thomas H. Rust and Eugenia Rust. He is survived by his two sons Chris and his wife Melissa, Adam and his wife Heather, and their mother Que. He is also survived by his sister Kay Porter and his nephews Nathan Porter and wife Melissa, John Calder and wife Carol, Mike Calder and wife Lori, and loving niece Katie Porter.
