Obituary

DIANNE MARIE RUESS LANE

July 10, 1979 – April 9, 2026

Dianne Marie Ruess was born on July 10, 1979, to John and Kathy Ruess in Fort Worth, Texas. As the eldest of four Sisters in a tight knit Air Force family, Dianne spent her childhood in California, Nebraska, Alaska, Massachusetts, Virginia, New Mexico and Texas. She experienced countless adventures traversing the United States in the family station wagon, riding bikes to the BX and back with her Sisters or chipping a tooth during refueling over the Pacific Ocean. Dianne attended Highland High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she was a proud cheerleader and graduated in 1997.

Dianne attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and pursued a nursing degree. Her three younger Sisters followed her to Tarleton. Dianne always had a nurturing spirit and served as a Resident Advisor and Director in the non-airconditioned dorms. She welcomed students, helped them navigate campus life, roommate relationships and was a steady shoulder to lean on. Dianne was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, PANKUS and several other campus organizations.

Upon graduation, Dianne worked for 23 years as a BSN, RN and IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) at Medical City Arlington Hospital. She cared for many mothers and babies at some of the most important moments of their lives. She loved supporting new families and was praised by colleagues and patients for her compassion, dependability and willingness to always keep learning.

On June 26, 2010, Dianne married Bret Lane, The Love of Her Life. They shared a rare connection built on trust, support and laughter. Throughout their marriage, even the simplest moments were special, because they shared them together. Their bond was a testament to friendship at its strongest bringing comfort and a lasting sense of home to both of their lives.

On April 2, 2017, Jaxon completed Dianne’s and Bret’s lives. Dianne had always wanted to be a Mother and she was so proud of every moment they shared. She was a true “Boy Mom” savoring all of the wrestling, endless cuddling and silliness. She loved everything Jax said, made or did and told everyone about it. She also cherished the supportive group of friends they fondly named “The Bad Moms’ Club”.

Dianne was an animal lover. She and Bret welcomed many animals into their home through the years. What began as fostering usually turned into “Foster Fails” since they adopted all of the animals in their care.

Dianne was known as Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Nurse, Baby D and D throughout her life. Her Dad lovingly nicknamed her DDTHBTNB during her childhood which eventually evolved into ”Aunt Hiney” by her Nieces and Nephew.

Dianne always showed up when someone needed her. She will always be remembered as a True Friend who loved unconditionally and supported her Family and Friends. Her kindness lives on in the memories of everyone she met. Dianne’s decision to be an Organ Donor turned a profound loss into a lasting gift by giving others the chance to live and carry her Legacy forward.

Dianne is survived by her Husband Bret Lane; Son Jaxon Lane; Parents John and Kathy Ruess; Sister Jackie and Husband Cody Martin; their children Anna and Harris; Sister Stephanie and Husband Devin Walker; their child Sarah; Sister Lizzie and Husband Lane Watson; their child Abby as well as many friends and chosen family.

A joyous Celebration of Dianne’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Palo Pinto County Sheriff Posse, 1300 Farm to Market Road 1821, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067, from 2-5 pm. This will be a Come and Go Event to share beautiful memories of Dianne.
