Life of Doris Jean Dabbs
1947 - 2017
Doris Jean Dabbs was born on April 21, 1947 in Vernon, TX to the late Birtram "Buddy" Craft and Mable Craft. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Wichita Falls, TX. During this time, at an early age she was baptized and received Christ.
Later in life she moved to Dallas, Texas with her Aunt, Bobbie Clark. She then became a member of Believers Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor James E. Goss in 1962 where she served as a choir member and a part of the mission called "Souls are our goals". Doris then met and married the late Joe Lee Dabbs in 1964 and together they raised five beautiful children. She was a devoted and hard-working wife and mother to her family. She loved her grandchildren dearly. She later retired after 31 years of service from American Airlines as a Professional Services Sky Chef Lead.
Doris is preceded in death by her father, Birtram "Buddy" Craft, her husband Joe Dabbs, and her sister Jenice Hurrington.
Doris leaves to cherish the following loved ones: Including her
mother, Mable Craft; her sisters, Leslie Craft of Wichita Falls, Texas; Mary Williams and her husband Joshua of Shreveport, Louisiana; her brother, Samuel Craft of Wichita Falls, Texas; her children, Sammy Craft and his wife Rita of Montgomery, Alabama; Bobby "B.J." Dabbs of Dallas, Texas; Leslie Dabbs and his wife Kimberly of Wichita Falls, Texas; Kevin Dabbs and his wife Rochelle of Dallas, Texas; LaTorsha Dabbs of Dallas, Texas; her Aunt, Bobbie Clark along with twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
While the eniire family is greatly saddened by Doris' passing, they rejoice and want everyone to come celebrate a life well lived and her new eternal beginning in The Kingdom of Heaven. Doris' funeral service will begin at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Pearly Gates Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
