Erica Deshawn Haynes 1979 - 2017 Erica Haynes was called to be with our Lord and Savior on October 8, 2017. Erica was born April 7, 1979 to her parents, Oscar Charles Scurry and Emma Louise (Thomas) Scurry in Houston, Texas. Erica was the youngest of three children. She was a very talented student and was very active in school sports. Erica graduated high school in 1997 and later attended Texas A&M Prairie View where she majored in Early Childhood Development. Erica would go on to work for the Fort Worth ISD where she flourished. It was very evident that Erica's passion was teaching her students and was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award. Erica was never happier than when she was helping others, she gave her time freely for every worthy cause. Her outgoing and positive spirit touched the hearts of so many people, friends, students and strangers alike. She was truly a magnetic and alluring individual, once you met Erica you would never forget her, and always for good and positive reasons. Erica's generosity and strength of spirit will forever resonate; she is our angel. Erica is survived by her loving husband, Dawsheen Haynes; her mother, Emma Scurry; her beautiful children, Dylan, Erin, Mason and Maddox; her sisters, Chandra Brooks and husband Derrick, Angulia Scurry; her mother-in-law, Cherry Wright; her father-in-law, Elgin Haynes; her sisters-in-law, La'Shay Cunningham, De'Asia Cunningham; her brothers-in-law, Elgin Haynes, Eli Haynes; numerous nieces and nephews, along with many other loving family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Charles Scurry, her grandparents, along with aunts and uncles.
