Ernest "Bill" Calvin Rogers
1932 - 2016
Ernest "Bill" Calvin Rogers was born October 21, 1932 in Burkburnett, Texas to his parents, Ernest T. Rogers and Eula Brown-Rogers.
Bill met and later married the love of his life, Mary Lula Martin on September 12, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they raised three children, two daughters, Barbara Lyons and Beverly Martinez along with their son Billy Rogers. Bill supported his family through the carpentry trade, mastering every aspect from rough-in to finish carpentry. Bill's family was extremely proud of his talent and craftsmanship in his work.
While Bill was very skilled in his choice of work, that did not sum up what Bill was all about. One word sums up who Bill Rogers was, and that word is Family. Bill's family meant everything to him and his life centered around the love and joy they brought to each other. As Bill began aging, his family could be overheard to say things like "His grandkids have kept Grandpa going these last twenty years". Bill's contageous personality for being a caring and nurturing person spilled way outside of his own family, as everyone loved Bill. Bill was literally the kind of man that would give anyone the shirt off his back and always brought out the best in people, as he could see the positive in everyone and could naturally bring out the best in others, even when they didn't believe in themself.
Bill leaves behind his daughters, Barbara Lyons of Grand Prairie, Texas, Beverly Martinez of Fort Worth and his son, Billy Rogers of Fort Worth. Bill is survived by his six grandchildren: Donald Smith Jr. of Azle, Texas; Gordon Lyons Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas; Audria Lyons of Grand Prairie, Texas; Sabrina Dunne of Fort Worth, Texas; Mark Smith of Azle, Texas; and Aaron Rogers of Fort Worth, Texas.
Along with his grandchildren, Grandpa says goodbye for now, until we are re-united in paradise, to his twelve great grandchildren: Kasey Smith of Weatherford, Texas; Jocelyn Sessions of Grand Prairie, Texas; Jason Lyons of Grand Prairie, Texas; Mary Rogers, of Cleburne, Texas; Ember Smith of Dallas, Texas; Lorelai Davis of Grand Prairie, Texas; Corbin Hoage of Arlington, Texas; Nikolai Mayhew of Azle, Texas; Hailey Phillips of Azle, Texas; Asa Phillips of Azle, Texas; Allison Phillips of Azle, Texas; Anthony Smith of Springtown, Texas; and numerous others who were family at heart.
Bill's passing from this earth is heartbreaking to his family, but they truly rejoice that he is now re-united with his wife Mary, his parents, Ernest T and Eula Rogers, his sister, Autrey Ellen Rogers and his grandson William Calvin Rogers in the eternal comfort of our Lord and Savior in The Eternal Kingdom of Heaven.
