Frederick Edward Christen

1931 - 2024

Frederick Edward Christen (93), a long time believer in the Lord Jesus Christ went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Friedrich Christen and Paula (Braun) Christen, both of whom immigrated from Germany. He will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Reta (Roberts) Christen and his children: Frederick James & wife Saundra, Karl Eric & wife Dana, and Kathryn Marie & husband Vaughn as well as grandchildren Kelsie & husband Chris, Ashley, Connor, Grant, Brandon, and great-grandson Carson. He grew up in New York City (mostly Queens) and graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School in New York City, considered one of the best magnet schools in the country at the time. He accomplished a lot in life. He flew jet fighters (F-101 being his last) in the Air Force for 14 years before moving on to fly for American Airlines until retirement at age 60. He served in the Air Force Reserve and earned a full retirement at the rank of Major. He loved flying and owned two private planes at different times in his life. In retirement he enjoyed boating on his cabin cruiser and then flying and tinkering with his Cessna 195 after he sold the boat. He and Evelyn enjoyed many trips in their RV. They also loved taking cruises as a way to experience the world. While his children were growing up he gave a lot of time to the Boy Scout Troop to which his sons belonged. He instilled in his children the importance of an education and hard work. The most important thing he ever did was take his family to a Billy Graham Crusade when they were young and start them on the path to being believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 AM at Victory Assembly, 1133 West Hebron Pkwy. Carrollton, TX. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Samaritan's Purse.
