Gene Edward Autrey was called home on October 2, 2020.

Gene was born on July 14, 1953 to Willie E. Autrey and Frankie Viola Beasley – Autrey in Dallas, Texas. He was encouraged to join the Army after the life of his brother James was taken in his service to our Country during the Vietnam War. Gene served as a morse code operator until he was able to return home to his family in 1974. He married the love of his life Kathleen and they were blessed with 40 wonderful years together. Gene was an avid fan of Nascar racing, the Dallas Cowboys, and enjoyed spending his free time assembling and painting model cars and trucks.

Gene is survived by his adoring wife, Sherie Kathleen Autrey; sons, Bradley Autrey and Ryan Scott Autrey; daughter Shannon Kala Autrey; grandchildren, Hallie, Nathan, Cecilia, Emberlyn, Logan, and Rylie; brothers, sisters, and many other loving family and friends.

Gene will be privately interred at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday October 13, 2020.

A Memorial service will be held later at a date to be determined by the family.
