Obituary

Jackie Wayne Martin April 14, 1938 ~ August 16, 2017 Jackie Wayne Martin went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jackie was born in Denton, Texas to his parents, Charles Oscar Martin and Ozell Mae Sprayberry-Martin on April 14, 1938. Jackie grew up in Denton and worked out in the field picking cotton from the age of 12. When he was a young man he spent time in the National Guard serving his country. Jackie loved taking camping trips with the whole family. He especially enjoyed taking the kids fishing early in the morning. Jackie loved spending time with his grandchildren as so many grandfathers do. Grandchildren often bring a spark of life and joy into their grandparent's hearts. This holds true in the relationship that Jackie had with his grandchildren. Jackie is remembered as a hardworking man and will be missed for his feisty spirit and quick witted humor. Jackie is survived by his daughters, Teresa Stirling and husband Billy, Sharon Martin, Tammie Martin; his sons, David Martin, Jeffry Martin and wife Lee; his brothers, Jimmy Martin and wife Carolyn, Donnie Martin and wife Diane; his sister, Alice Pearce and husband Perry; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews along with many other loving family members and friends. Though we are saddened by the loss of an amazing man, father and friend we rejoice in the knowledge that he is no longer suffering, but at peace in the arms of the Father.
