Obituary

John L Baker November 20, 1939 - June 2, 2025

John L Baker, age 85, met his Lord and Savior face to face on Monday, June 2, 2025.  John L was born in Bosque County on November 20,1939 to his loving parents Tyra and Lola Mae Baker.  He was the oldest of four children.  John L began working at the tender age of 14 throwing papers for the Fort Worth Press.  He eventually got a job at a print shop delivering orders and worked his way inside to begin his lifelong career as an offset printer. His impeccable work ethic and dedication to excellence in his craft was an everlasting example for his children and grandchildren.  John was very active throughout his life and excelled in activities such as slow pitch softball, poker, square dancing, camping, playing 42, and enjoyed coaching girls' softball.  He was only slowed down by a debilitating disease but continued to do as many activities as he could by playing 42 and Bingo at the Lake Worth Senior Center.

He had a witty personality and a great sense of humor.  He was quick with a joke and enjoyed creating and distributing funny novelty items and encouraging texts to his family, friends, and acquaintances.

John L left a lasting legacy of love that will be carried on for generations through his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife Dortha Baker of Fort Worth, daughters Sheree Davis and husband Les of Azle, Jana Morgan and husband David of Azle, and son Troy Baker and wife Paula of Hudson Oaks.  He is the proud grandfather of Shannon, Ty, Nicolas, Hunter, Kaitlin, and Sarah. He is a great-grandfather to Greenlee, Aidan, Maddox, Hailie, Preslee, Scarlett, and Everleigh. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Richardson.  He is preceded in death by his parents Tyra and Lola Mae Baker and brothers Jerry Baker and Cecil Baker.

John L will be remembered for having a deep love and devotion to his family and by those who were fortunate enough to share in his life journey.  He will be greatly missed until we see him again.
