Obituary

Larry Talley May 1, 1959 ~ Feb 1, 2017 Larry Gene Talley was born May 1, 1959 in Abilene Texas to Martha Ross and Johnnie Talley. He crossed the finish line, and claimed his prize of eternal life February 1, 2017 in Fort Worth Texas. Left to tell his story is his wife of 28 years Kelley Talley, his children Brooke (Garth) Thomas of Lubbock, Adam Nelson of Roy, Utah, and Taylor Talley of Fort Worth. Other survivors include his Step father Dois Ross, brother James Talley, and nephew Jordon (Tracy) Talley of Abilene; as well as Aunts Barbara (Larry) Pittman and Sydney (Les) Cox. He has 4 grandchildren Garth Lee, Gavin, Gracelyn Thomas of Lubbock, and Jasper Talley of Fort Worth. Waiting in heaven for him were his mother Martha, father Johnnie, nephew Jeremy Talley and his grandparents. Larry loved sports. He played baseball, took Karate, but most of all he lived for Friday night football as a defensive lineman for Abilene High school. He loved fishing. Nothing made him happier than to dig up a few worms on the bank and fish all day and night. He loved his Texas Rangers. His constant companion at home was his dog, Jazzy. The two of them made sure the squirrels toed the line and kept moving to the next house. He worked the majority of his life in the oil and gas industry, most recently as a directional driller and consultant. He demanded perfection from himself and his crew. He took pride in landing his well within inches of the target. He was the man they wanted when they wanted the job done right. He fought hard these last two years to regain his health, and just recently learned to walk again following extensive back surgeries. He always wanted to spare his family the worry about his health, so he kept many things to himself. He was tired of fighting and grew weary of the pain, so he and God talked about things, and they made the decision to enter hospice. We are so very grateful for all the support from friends and family in his last days. Most of all we want to thank the wonderful staff at the VITAS Healthcare.
