In Loving Memory of Mary Lee Hum 1952 – 2025
Mary Lee Hum passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by love. Born on December 8, 1952, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Mary Ellen Crouse and stepfather William Watkins, Mary lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.
As a child, Mary moved often, living in Mississippi, North Carolina, and Minnesota before finally settling in Fort Worth, Texas—a city she came to call home. She gave birth to two of her children, Randy and Linda, in Duluth, Minnesota, where she never hesitated to share her humorous grievances about the snow.
Mary had a deep affection for the simple joys in life. She especially loved television game shows, a passion she shared with her beloved partner of 22 years, Bill Balber. Together, they watched countless episodes, with "Family Feud" being her favorite. She watched it so faithfully that she often knew the answers before the contestants.
To her children and grandchildren, Mary was the heart of the family—the best mom and grandma anyone could hope for. She was fiercely loyal, endlessly compassionate, and always there when you needed her. Mary had a feisty spirit, a sharp wit, and a voice Bill described as articulate and beautiful. She made every person feel seen and loved, never casting judgment and always offering comfort.
Mary is survived by her devoted partner and soulmate, Bill Balber; her sons Randy Lee Dragoo, Rickey Lee Dragoo, and Michael Dragoo; her daughter Linda Luker; grandchildren Ashley Luker, Heather Luker, and Brock Dragoo; and four great-grandchildren who were lucky to know her love. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Watkins and Mary Ellen Crouse.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by her service at 2:00 PM at Roberts-Martinez Funeral Home, located at 4200 Denton Highway, Haltom City, Texas, 76117.

May she rest in peace.
