In Loving Memory of

Melanie Denise Jones Taylor Jackson

October 18, 1972- October 16, 2026

Melanie passed away peacefully and surrounded by her mother, sister Michelle and all five of her children. Melanie will be remembered as a free-spirited, fun-loving soul with a stubborn streak who took life by the horns and embraced every day with a playful, youthful energy. She carried a welcoming presence that brought warmth and joy to any room-even if she was almost certainly arriving late-and left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her. She was a loving and vibrant soul, and always the life of the party who could bring joy wherever she went.

Raised by her devoted parents, Mike and Mary "Cookie" Jones, Melanie was the youngest of three siblings. From a young age, Melanie exhibited a nurturing spirit, often dreaming of one day becoming a mother. This dream became her life's greatest joy and fulfillment. She has always loved being outdoors in the fresh air-whether running along the scenic rural roads where she lived, cranking up her favorite music, or spending a weekend morning garage-saleing. Her deep love for children and animals was evident in everything she did.

Though her greatest childhood dream was simply to grow up and become a mom, that innate nurturing nature shined brightly through every job she held. She spent over six years managing a family business, Taylor Remodeling, with her first husband, Dan Taylor. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she spent five years at Longmeadow Nursing Home in Justin facilitating activities and providing patient care, and went on to offer compassionate hospice-level care for elderly patients in their final stages of life. Combining her love for helping others with her deep affinity for animals, she spent three cherished years working alongside Dr. Mark as a veterinary technician at Westgate Veterinary Clinic in Denton-a role she always spoke of as her favorite and most fulfilling professional chapter.

Standing tall at six feet with a striking presence, Melanie was a comforting and grounded anchor and pillar of strength for many around her. Though her tall stature and strong hands naturally caught your eye, it was her gentle, loving demeanor that truly defined her. She was remarkably approachable and possessed a quick wit, raunchy sense of humor, and a sweet soul. With just a soft word and her warm tone of voice, she had a quiet way of making people feel deeply safe, accepted, and instantly embraced as a friend. Her infectious laugh made everyone around her feel instantly at home. She lived her life confidently with an open heart, always ready to step in and care for anyone who needed help. A loving and vibrant soul, she was always the life of the party-bringing joy wherever she went.

Melanie's nurturing spirit found its truest expression in motherhood, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Her greatest joy came from her beloved children: Chris Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Skylar Jackson, Shane Jackson, and Drew Jackson. She was also the grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren, Lilah, Alex, and Myah Martinez. Her legacy lives on not only through her children and grandchildren, but in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Melanie is also survived by her sister Michelle Horton, brother Micah Hazelwood, mother Mary "Cookie" Jones and father Mike Jones.

In accordance with her wishes, Melanie will be cremated and no formal services will be held.

Melanie's family will honor her memory during what would be her 54th birthday on October 18th, 2026, at a celebration of life memorial celebration.
