Nina Joan Carter November 16, 1931 ~ June 7, 2017 Nina Joan Carter, 85, of Nevada, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Nina was born on November 16, 1931 in Abilene, Texas. She grew up with her brother J.C. Winn and her sister Doris Minchey. While in Abilene, she met the love of her life, Garland Brabson Carter. Nina and Garland were married on April 2, 1949 and moved to Azle soon after. Garland took a job at Trinity Portland Concrete Company and Nina worked at Hancocks Fabric. The two started their family here and had three beautiful children. They enjoyed sharing time together as well as sharing laughs and sweet memories. Nina enjoyed many social activities including ballroom dancing. She was a very talented seamstress. There was never any doubt that you were loved. Nina always showed affection and gave her heart freely. She is survived by her daughters, Quindella Sue Jones, Jinnie Marie Carter; son, Johnny Charles Carter and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Della Headley and husband Bill, Curtis Jones, Laurie Chvojka and husband Mark, Kristen Gray and husband Jeff, John Carter and wife Ashley, Megan Crossley and husband Zach, Sandra Cantu; seven great-grandsons with one on the way; three great-granddaughters and other loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Garland Brabson Carter; parents, Cora Jackson, John and Ruby Winn; brother, J.C. Winn; and sister, Doris Minchey.
