Sonia Rivas Calderón, a beautiful and much-loved wife, sister, mother, aunt and friend, passed away on August 10, 2025. She leaves unforgettable memories for her family, her congregation and friends.

Sonia was born in El Salvador on February 2, 1977. She is the daughter of Doris Deysy Chacon and Eduardo Chacon.

She is survived by her husband, Santo Rivas, her daughter Kimberly; her two sons, Joshua and David; her mother, sisters, brothers and nephews.

She was an ideal wife and exemplary mother. Her unconditional love for them led her to provide everything they needed.

Sonia was compassionate and humble, willing to help when help was needed.

Sonia was a devout Christian, a member of the Iglesia de Dios, Templo Nueva Esperanza. Prayer warrior, with an unwavering faith in Jesus as her Savior and Provider. She believed that in Christ all things were possible. She instilled in her children respect for others, but, above all, love and trust in our Lord Jesus.

The vigil in memory of Sonia will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Iglesia de Dios, Templo Nueva Esperanza, located at 2818 Elinor Street, Fort Worth, TX. Join us in celebrating the spiritual and family life of our beloved sister Sonia.

The visitation will begin at 6:00 p. m. and will continue throughout the evening so family, congregation and friends can pay their respects and share special memories of her.

The Funeral Service will be held on August 21, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

On August 21, at 11:30 a.m., we will accompany our dear sister Sonia to her final resting place at Azleland Memorial Park, located at 850 Cardinal Road, Azle, TX 76020.

Sonia leaves behind her faith in Jesus, her love for her family, her congregation and her friends; but her memory will remain etched forever in our hearts. The love, laughs, jokes and fun memories our dear sister Sonia provided us over the years can never be obscured by her departure. Her memory will live on forever and her story will always be told.
