Obituary

Suzi John Alummuttil (Suzi John Puthanpurayel)

Suzi John Alummuttil (Suzi John Puthanpurayel) of Ft. Worth, Texas, died on Sunday, February 17, 2019.

Suzi was born in Pazhanji, Kerala, India, to parents C.T. Mathapin (Matthew) and K.C. Thandakutty.  She married Rev. Puthanpurayel J. John in February 1966.  They have two children, Raji Bolton (Amarillo, Texas) and Saji Alummuttil (Ft. Worth, Texas).

Suzi graduated from high school in Kerala, India.  She moved to Bangalore, India, shortly after graduation to find a job.  She found employment at BEL company.  After her marriage to Pastor John, she continued to work at BEL and support her husband's ministry with various Bangalore churches.  She encouraged and supported her husband's opportunity to study theology in the United States while she raised their children in India for 3 years.

In June 1976, Suzi and the children immigrated to U.S. with the sponsorship of the congregation in Aberdeen, Idaho.  She served alongside her husband in pastoring Mennonite congregations in Elkhart and Goshen, Indiana, until he was called to pastor an Indian congregation in Dallas, Texas, in 1981.  In the summer of 1999, Pastor John and Suzi returned to India as missionaries, pioneering once again the start of 7 churches, which continue to this day.  Due to health issues, they returned to Texas in 2013.

Suzi is survived by her two children, and grandsons James, Aidan and Kiran Bolton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Kezia Samuel and her husband (Kerala, India), brother C.M. Samuel (Kerala, India), and son-in-law Brad Bolton (Vernon, Texas).  She is survived by sister-in-law, Baby Samuel (Kerala, India) many nieces and nephews.

Suzi loved her family deeply, championed them always, fed anyone who visited, and prayed daily for loved ones and others.  She served in ministry alongside Pastor John for 53 years of married life.  She was an avid gardener, she loved to sew and make other hand crafted things, she was a talented cook and she loved time with her family.  Her imprint on the lives of her children and grandchildren as well as the extended family is visible every day.
