1992 – 2021

Alfonso Mares Jr., born June 22nd, 1992 in the small town of Katy, Tx to his parents, Alfonso Mares Sr. and Sonia Magallanes, gained his angel wings on October 25th of 2021 after 29 beautiful years of life. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School class of 2010 where he was a receiver for the Varsity Saginaw Rough Riders football team. Some of you may remember him as the class goofball. After graduating from high school, Alfonso successfully went on to complete basic training gaining a diploma for the 434th F.A Brigade in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Determined to pursue his education within the Army for the Texas National Guard, Mr. Mares became a Staff Sergeant who was awarded for his mechanical technical abilities in 2011. He was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. In 2011, Alfonso met his wife Mariah Mares for dinner at a cute little asian restaurant called Eastern Kitchen in Fort Worth. They rekindled their connection after knowing each other from sophomore/junior year of high school where they used to pass notes to each other in class. In 2012 they decided to get married and begin their journey together to start a family. Alfonso went on to have 2 children with his wife, Ricardo Mares (age 8) and Milena Mares (age 6). During his spare time, you could catch Alfonso playing video games, catching a movie or watching anime, having a leisurely nap, spending time with loved ones, and traveling. Alfonso was passionate about his career as a Fleet Mechanic for the City Of Irving where he spent majority of his days. Alfonso Mares Jr. was predeceased by his Father, Alfonso Mares Sr. Surviving Relatives are his mother Sonia Magallanes and siblings Mauricio Vivas, Magaly Reyes, Vivian Reyes, Lilliana Mares, Stephanie Mares. His uncles: Martin Magallanes, Angel Magallanes, Joey Mares, Zeke Mares, Manuel Mares, His Aunts: Ana Magallanes, Jolinda Magallanes, Yenny Mares, Estela Mares, Juanita Mares. His grandparents: Martin Magallanes, Dalia Magallanes. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 01, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church beginning at 10:00AM followed by a visitation at Roberts Family Funeral Home Chapel from 11:30AM – 8:00PM.
