Carol Boyd Obituary

Carol Ann Smith Boyd, 79, of Azle, TX, passed away peacefully September 24, 2020 with her family by her side.

Born January 1, 1941 to the late Jefferson Davis (J.D.) & Roberta Harwell Smith in Kaufman, TX, she grew up on their farm in Poetry, TX and graduated from Terrell High School in 1959. She received her Master's degree in Theology in 1993 from the University of Dallas. As an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Irving then First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie she facilitated support groups for women, divorced and widowed, and a task force for HIV/AIDS education. She provided Eucharistic ministry by conducting worship and communion services for the homebound as well as Parkland Hospital through Stephen Ministries. Carol worked over 30 years as an accountant and business manager in the Dallas area and ended her work career when she retired from Pep Boys ten years ago.

Carol produced one daughter, Vivian Lee Boyd Miser who, according to her, "was the best thing I ever did". Her greatest joy was being Gram C to her granddaughter, great grandchildren and granddog, Buster. She was a dyed in the wool Democrat and wouldn't hesitate to debate with anyone willing. Proud of the Smith family heritage she loved to tell stories about her beloved father's history with the Army, Texas A&M and farming. She supported the Democratic Party, SPCA and animal rights, and protecting wildlife. She was also an avid collector of all things Garfield.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Vivian Miser, son in law Wendell Miser, granddaughter Jennifer Roady and wife Miracle Smith, great granddaughter Mallory Garrison, step grandson Wade Miser and spouse Laura Marshall, step great grandchildren Hannah Miser, Ava Miser, Emily Sims and Jake Sims, nephew Jeff Condra and his son Jeremy Condra, and a host of much loved cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Sylvia Smith Condra, and her best friend and wife Beth Westfall.

Carol requested that her earthly remains be cremated. Plans for a memorial celebration in the coming weeks are pending. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
