Gumercindo "Chindo" Rodriguez Obituary

Gumercindo “Chindo” Rodriguez

1947 – 2019

Gumercindo Rodriguez passed away on September 12, 2019 in Fort Worth, Texas. Gumercindo or how we like to call him Chindo, was born to Petra Gonzalez and Gumercindo Rodriguez on July 15, 1947, in Hamilton, Montana. With only a 4th grade education, unable to read or write and constantly moving around with his mom, Chindo would later participate in occupations like working the fields, as a volunteer fire fighter helping to stop the fires in California, fixing up houses, but the job he loved the most to was welding. Chindo would then retire as a welder for the manufacturing of railroad trains. Chindo met Maria Guadalupe Salazar when he was 23 years old in Coahuila, Torreon, Mexico. Chindo and Maria got married at 24 years old, they lived in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico, then moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they had two kids George Peter Rodriguez and Robert Gumercindo Rodriguez. Chindo and Maria were happily married for 48 years. Robert and Monica Rodriguez married, and they had two beautiful children, whom are Chindo’s only grandchildren’s, Mia Nicole Rodriguez of 8 years old and Roberto Rodriguez of 11 years old. Chindo was a very happy, outgoing, and helpful person. Chindo loved his grandchildren dearly and would be there for them when they needed him. Chindo was a very chatty person and he would also assist others when they needed help. Chindo loved to watch Pedro Infante, Tin Tan and Capulina movies. When I was 8 years old (Robert) I remember the first time I saw my dad with a VHS box set of Pedro Infante moves. We binge watch and finish watching over a weekend and I loved it. When I would have trouble at work, he would advise me to work on the hardest tools, that everything else would eventually become easy. Chindo will be deeply and lovingly missed by his wife; Maria Guadalupe Salazar, his sons Robert and his wife Monica Rodriguez and George Rodriguez, his grandchildren Mia and Roberto Rodriguez, and many other loving family members and friends. Rest in peace. A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 17, 2019 from 5-8pm at 5025 Jacksboro Highway, Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
