Joel Lopez, 59, received his wings Thursday, June 11, 2020 in his home in Haslet, TX after a long battle with multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome.
The world has lost a great son, brother, husband, father, and active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Joel was a loving family man who knew no strangers. He had a deep love for his parents and sisters and most cherished the moments spent fishing with his father. Joel was married to the love of his life, Alma, for over 34 years with whom he had four wonderful children. He was overjoyed when spending time with his family and loved the feeling of tending to his garden. He brought joy, laughter, and happiness to his friends, family, and all he met throughout his life. Joel will always be remembered for his energy, strength, and sense of humor. He discovered a new love when he joined Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Together, Joel and Alma journeyed to become Eucharistic ministers. He later became an acolyte where he aided in the ceremonial services and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus earning his Fourth Degree and serving as Grand Knight.
To him we say: You were the ray of light on a cloudy day, the light that filled the room. You gave warmth and comfort in times of need and your laughter could heal all wounds. Your strength was uplifting, and your determination always inspired. Though you are gone too soon you will live on in our hearts, your presence will be felt though we are far apart. We thank you for the memories and the times we shared, we hope you will watch over us until we are together again.
Joel was preceded in death by his father, Jose. He is survived by his wife, Alma; his children, Jacob, Melissa, Crystal, and Sandra; his mother Oralia; his sisters Patricia and Ida; and nieces and nephews, Stephen, Jason, Victoria, and Alexandra.
