MARY HILMA PENNINGER
SEPTEMBER 19, 1939 – January 15, 2021
Mary Hilma Penninger was born September 19, 1939 in Fort Worth Texas. She fell asleep and awoke in the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother and special friend to many people. She was a housewife for 63 years. Mary loved to cook and started making the family meals at the age of eight years old. She also made jewelry, crochet and other beautiful needle point works. She made many special blankets that she gave to the crisis pregnancy over the years. Mary loved to collect loose change and bought her husband a few suits with the change she collected.
Mary is preceded in death by her dad, Hugh Travis Atherton; her mom, Dixie Hilma Clements; and her brother, Hugh Travis Atherton II.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joe Penninger; her daughter, Susie Penninger; and her son, Walt Penninger.
Mary is also survived by her four sisters, Carol Locker and family, Nina Dunham, Alice McDowell and family, and Anne Stepp and family; many nieces and nephews; “sister of the heart,” Kay Adams Gobout; and a "family of the heart,” Scotty, Henrietta, Lindsay and Kalie Roberts. She will be missed by many dear friends and her dear church family at Northwest Bible Church.
Graveside services will be at Azleland Cemetery and Memorial Park on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 10:00am
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 3:00pm at Northwest Bible Church in Fort Worth Texas.
The family requests, instead of flowers’ that donations be made to the Gideon’s International or to the Mary Penninger memorial college scholarship fund at Northwest Bible Church.
