Robert Sears Obituary

Robert Marshall Sears
1949 - 2020

Robert Marshall Sears “Bob” passed away on February 8, 2020 in Arlington, Texas. Bob was born October 3, 1949 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Sybil Elizabeth Sears.

Bob attended school in Houston, Texas and Louisiana. He joined the United States Army November 28, 1969.  He served overseas during Vietnam War as an equipment repairman. He then served in the Army reserves for 17 years. Bob received the National Defense Service Medal, was awarded Expert Rifle, and received a Meritorious Unit Citation. He received two associates of arts degrees while in the military from UTEP. He worked in civil service and then as a civilian, worked as a utility trailer mechanic and welder, with a brief stint as a welding instruction, until he retired.

"Bob" was a loving, compassionate, kind Christian man.  Bob loved the Lord and worked to show that in his daily life. Bob was a good father, husband, son, brother and friend and is dearly missed by his family and friends.

Bob was a jokester and loved to laugh and joke around and to make others laugh. He usually had the loudest laugh in the room. He was lovingly known as "Bobbert" by his family and "Freddy" by his wife because of how he loved to joke around. He would sing in the shower and loved praising the Lord. He loved spending time with his family, including fishing with his son Robby, enjoying the outdoors with all of us, camping, going to the Dallas Zoo to watch the eagles (which were his favorite) and all of God's creatures big and small. He also loved to feed the ducks at the local parks and lakes.

Bob was an artist and master welder and craftsman and very good with his hands. He built many pieces of wood furniture that have help up for decades.  He loved gardening and creating beautiful gardens. Bob loved to tinker around in his garage and work on his 1970 Chevy pick-up. He was so proud of that truck he never let anyone of us drive it! His daughter Beth said when he passed, she bet he was up in heaven driving his old truck and eating a sub! Bob loved spending time and talking with his good friend John Sharp from El Paso and all his church friends. He could make friends wherever he went as he would strike up a conversation with anyone and did not judge others by their appearance. Bob became ill with dementia several years before he passed on but never forgot he loved eating Italian BMT sandwiches and oatmeal raisin cookies from Subway, and watching Stark Trek, Quigley Down Under, and Indiana Jones movies!   He never forgot who his family and friends were.

Bob is survived by wife, Laura Sears; his daughter, Alicia Clifton; his son, Robby Sears; his daughter, Elizabeth Sears; his grandsons, Dakotah Heath and Jaxon Reed; his brother, Johnnie Fueseller; his aunt, Ruth Tyler; his uncle, Herman Tyler; along with other loving family members and dear friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother Sybil Sears; his uncle, Jimmy Tyler; his aunt, Pat Tyler and his grandmother.
