Robert Peter Opel
Visitation will be held at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 9:00 am with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 am. Committal will be rendered at Richland Cemetery, Austin Ave & Southwest Country Road 2340 in Richland, Texas, at 1:30 pm. Graveside Pastor is Ken Hayman.
Robert Peter Opel, better known to all as Bob Opel, passed away on August 14, 2021 at age 84 in Fort Worth, Texas early in the morning.
Bob was born January 28, 1937 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Otto and Grace Opel. Three homes built by his carpenter father still stand in Jefferson City, Missouri which Bob loved to see.
He loved being a servant to his community & church families, serving first as a Webelos Leader & later as Assistant Scout Master with his boys in Scout Troop 143. He served as Sunday School teacher, as a greeter, & as a Choir Member at First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, & Mims Baptist Church in Conroe. Bob was a member of the Ford Thunderbird Club, the Conroe Country Cousins, North Star Singles and the Lake Country Squares. He retired from AT&T after 33 1/3 years & proudly served in the US Army.
He will be missed.
Bob will be deeply and lovingly missed by his wife, Felecia Opel; sons, Robert Wayne Opel and wife Anita, Roy Lee Opel and wife Christina, Charles Free, and Don Free; daughter, Melissa Griffin and husband Daryl; granddaughters, Ashley Price and husband Casey, Carina Opel and husband Alex Huang, Tina Wei and husband Yiding Luo, and Anna Opel; grandsons, Sam Free, Sean Free, and Drew Griffin; sister, Mary Ruth Opel; niece, Vicki Bagnell Denk and husband Terry; nephews, Charles Bagnell and wife Karen, Brian Bagnell and wife Jeana, and Bruce Bagnell; former wife, Leona Southard Howell; and his wonderful caregiver who cared not only for him, but was a great support for Felicia as well, Kaden Heaney.
