Teresa Vanhoose Obituary

On June 27,2021, Teresa went home to be with her Lord.  We all miss her terribly, but we are thankful she is now free of her feeble body and at peace with her Savior.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Roberts Family Funeral Chapel at 12:00 PM.  A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM with interment to follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park at 3:00 PM.

Teresa Kathleen Jernigan was born September 22, 1958 to Bobbie Jean And Eugene Jernigan in Kokomo, Indiana, little sister to brother, Dwight.

She was adored from the beginning, her daddy’s precious baby girl.  When she was one, her family moved back to Texas, renting a house two doors away from her maternal grandparents.  In 1960, Teresa became a big sister to her brother, Lawrence Roy (Lonnie). Two years later, her family moved into a brand new house on Maryanna Way in North Richland Hills. In 1964, she became a big sister again to Hope Kimberly.

When Teresa was 9 the family tragically lost their father, who was killed in Vietnam.  The relationship between Teresa and her dad had been so strong that she continued to speak about him as if he were still alive.  Several years passed before she was able to accept his passing.

Her teen years were filled with happy times.  Siblings and cousins from each of her mom’s brothers and sisters shared travel, outings, times at the farm, weeks at day camp.  They went to training in other cities to learn to share the Lord’s truth through evangelism.  They travelled to out of state family camps, and attended each others’ sporting events.  The bond they formed through all of this closeness remains strong today.

Teresa’s first daughter, Erika Nicole, was born to Teresa and Steve Noble in 1977, bringing delight to her and her grandparents.  Then, her marriage to James (Skip) Jackson added 3 more precious children to her family:  Blake Everett in 1983, Amber Britni in 1985, and Tessa Kathleen in 1988.

Teresa was a protective mother to all her children, always fighting battles to make sure they had the best chance to grow happily and responsibly.  They were her delight.  As grandchildren came along in later years, she was so proud of them as well and loved spending time with them.

The last four years of Teresa’s life were some of her best, in spite of serious health issues.  In 2017 she married Greg Vanhoose.  Together, they shared so many special times - outings,

Teresa is preceded in passing by her parents, Bobbie Jernigan Hartsell and Eugene Jernigan, and her brother, Lonny Jernigan.

She will be deeply and lovingly missed by her husband, Greg Vanhoose; children, Erika McComis and husband, Brandon of Bridgeport, Blake Jackson and wife, Jessica of Decatur, Amber Robinson and husband, Lonnie of Middleburg, FL, and Tessa Jorgenson and husband, Todd of Keller; grandchildren, Tyler Noble, Mason McComis, Decker Jackson, Ethan Robinson, Aivah Robinson, Caden Robinson, Garet Robinson, Tatelyn Jorgenson, Tenleigh Jorgenson, and Toby Jorgenson; siblings, Dwight Jernigan and Hope Jernigan; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
